Projects

We have projects in various stages of development, and ideas for others. We are always looking for projects that might fit with the OS Nano idea, if you have one, send us your idea and perhaps we can host it here.

1. Magnetite Nanocrystals for Arsenic Removal

   This is the flagship project for OSNano, and is at the most advanced stage of development.
2. A Universal Water Filter: a new project to incorporate magnetite with an anti-microbial treatment such as the addition of silver particles or shining some UV light. Components could include: Magnetite nanocrystals, Silver particles for anti microbial activity, activated carbon for NOM (normal organic matter) or VOM (volatile organic matter), silver coated core-shell magnetite-silica particles for anti microbial activity as well as magnetic controllability, using UV light to kill all microbial content.Once 2 or more of these components are combined, a universal filter would be achieved.

3. Homebrew an STM

   Most of the materials for a home-built STM are easy and cheap. We'd like to collect detailed instructions on the best way to build an STM, open source software for creating and manipulating images and ideas for what, if anything, you could do with it.
